Woman’s Body and Two Unmanned Mango Boats Found Floating in Sittwe

Narinjara

Sittwe: The body of an Arakanese woman and two row-barges that were loaded with mangoes were found floating unmanned and pulled in at the fishing port in Kyetaw Rwama Village in Sittwe, the capital of Arakan State.

“They were found and saved from the water separately. They woman’s body was found first, and then the two unmanned row-barges filled with mangoes came ashore,” said an official from the office of the Rakhine Nationalities Development Party in Sittwe.

He said the deceased woman was yet to be identified and no one was found on the barges that were filled with mangoes.

“It is now being investigated why and how the dead body and the barges have come ashore here,” he said.
When Myoma Police Station in Sittwe was contacted by Narinjara, the official on duty said they could not do anything about the matter because the Kyetaw fishing port is not in their jurisdiction, and hung up the phone.
The RNDP official said the news that an engine boat departing from Pauktaw was attacked by some terrorists on its way to Sittwe is spreading town, but has yet to be confirmed.
